Nightcap to open Blame Gloria cocktail and wine bar in Bristol

Bar group Nightcap has announced plans to open a late-night cocktail venue in Bristol under its Blame Gloria brand.

It will be the first Blame Gloria site outside of London for the AIM-listed company, which owns The Cocktail Club, the Adventure Bar Group and the Barrio Familia group of bars. The business already operates two bars under the brand in Covent Garden and Clapham.

The new venue, on 22 Small Street, will cover an area of approximately 8,000 sq ft and will have an unrestricted capacity of 350. It will serve bottomless brunches and will have a license to operate until 2am.

No date for opening has yet been confirmed, but Nightcap has said the bar is set to open its doors later in 2022. The announcement follows the opening of The Cocktail Club on Corn Street in the city in November 2021.

Sarah Willingham, chief executive of Nightcap, said: "We are excited to start trading a new Blame Gloria in an equally amazing site with underground arches which works so well for the flower themed branding.

“This is our first Blame Gloria outside of London as we seek to share a brand Londoners have enjoyed in Covent Garden for years with its well-known brunches and late night partying."

Nightcap now has three sites across two of its brands in Bristol and it takes the total number of sites within its estate to 33, with an extra 23 premises under offer or in legal negotiations across the UK for all of the group's brands.

The business acquired the Adventure Bar Group - a portfolio of bars in Covent Garden, Waterloo, Shoreditch, Clapham and Birmingham that includes the Blame Gloria brand - in May 2021.

Ms Willingham added: “The business has performed very well and we are now starting to see the significant efforts invested in readying their brands for nationwide roll-out, as we announce the second, of several new sites, in just the last week.”
