Night curfew lifted in Rajasthan, guest limit raised for social gatherings

JAIPUR: The government on Friday announced lifting the daily night curfew, currently imposed from 11pm to 5am, on weekdays from across the state from February 5. The move has come following a slight drop in the number of Covid-19 cases in the state.

In a major respite to wedding ceremonies, the government has increased the maximum guest limit to 250. Members of wedding bands will be excluded from the total figure.

Also, a maximum of 250 guests/participants will be allowed to attend social, religious, sports, entertainment, educational and cultural programmes. The hospitality sector and event managers have been demanding the increase in the limit of participants for events as the cap of 100 has seen a drop in major events.

Religious places will be allowed to open for devotees as per the traditional timings. The ban on flowers, offerings and chadas has also been lifted for devotees. Offerings like flowers and chadars are part of the rituals at most religious places.

Meanwhile, the state reported 5,937 new Covid cases in 24 hours, bringing the overall tally to 12,35,071. Twenty-one persons died too, taking the toll to 9,353. Active cases in the state decreased from 59,513 to 54,869. Jaipur reported 942 Covid cases. Active cases in the city decreased from 14,979 to 13,846 in a day. tnn
