Nigel Adams becomes third Tory MP to quit in 24 hours triggering by-election

Nigel Adams, an ally of Boris Johnson, has announced on Twitter he will be standing down with "immediate effect", triggering a by-election in his Selby and Ainsty constituency.

Mr Adams announced on Saturday that he was following the former Prime Minister and former culture secretary Nadine Dorries’ lead in quitting Westminster.
