Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma-Phinney sprung a surprise on her two rivals Marlen Reusser and Demi Vollering with a long-range solo win at Mont Ventoux during the Women's Tour de France Queen stage on Friday, edging her into a narrow overall lead.
Starting the day third 1min 17sec down, the Polish rider attacked a massive 9km from the summit of Mont Ventoux in the Provence region of southern France as the top two let her go and instead kept tabs on each other.
