NICOLA Sturgeon has reacted to her husband's resignation as SNP chief executive after more than 20 years in the role.
Arriving back from an SNP Women event in Edinburgh on Saturday morning, the First Minister said her husband was "right" to have announced his resignation.
Approached by Sky News, Sturgeon said: "He's obviously taking responsibility for the recent issue with membership. He had intended to stand down when there was a new leader but I think he was right to make that announcement today."
She added: "Peter's been a key part of the electoral success we've achieved in recent years, and I know there will be a recognition about this across the party."
