Nicola Peltz sent her social media followers into a tizzy when she accidentally sparked pregnancy rumours after sharing a photo of her sporting a prop bump from her upcoming film.
The actress, 28, who wed Brooklyn Beckham, 23, last April, shared several snaps from the set of Lola James where she plays young expectant mother, Lola, on Instagram on Wednesday.
The photo that set many off saw her show off her stomach while clad in a white T-shirt, grey zip-up hoodie and low-waist pink sweatpants.
Captioning the carousel post, she penned: “Some lola film”.
Immediately fans flocked to the comments section to address the image, with one remarking: “Omg I thought it was a pregnancy announcement.”
“You are pregnant?”, another asked, while a third added: “Omg I thought it was a pregnancy announcement.”
Clearing up the speculation, one of the American star’s followers briefly explained the premise of the film, which was sure to enlighten those reading the comments.
They wrote: "In the 1961 film this is probably based on the main character Lola is pregnant, so I’m guessing this is meant to look like she’s pregnant for film."
According to Deadline, the remake is set to take place in 2002 and centres around 19-year-old Lola, who tries to flee a toxic home environment with her younger brother, Arlo.
But making matters worse is Lola’s spiralling drug addiction, and their situation rapidly goes downhill when a tragic event changes their lives.
Amid the wave of speculative comments, pal Selena Gomez showed her support for Peltz’s directorial debut, writing: "Ugh ready to see this film!!!!!"
While her husband Brooklyn penned: “So so so proud of you baby xxx”.
