Nicola Furlong's killer returns to US home after prison release

The family of murdered student Nicola Furlong are “devastated” her killer has returned to his home in the US after serving 10 years in prison.

Richard Hinds, 29, who strangled the 21-year-old in Japan in 2012, was freed last weekend. Yesterday, he was deported by Japanese immigration officials back to his family in Memphis, Tennessee.

Ms Furlong’s family, from Curracloe, Co Wexford, revealed they are “devastated” at his release. Her mum Angela said: “I just buckled over when I heard the news.
