Nicki Minaj 'relaunching music career' following explosive Little Mix feud

Nicki Minaj is ready to rebuild her career after being dragged into a feud with Little Mix – while also being eclipsed by rap rivals.

The 39-year-old rap sensation shot to fame back in 2010 when she began releasing high-energy tracks – and started topping the charts.

However, some music fans feel she has been eclipsed by chart rivals in recent years, while she hit a bit of a low in 2021 when she sparked a war of words with British girl band Little Mix as she defended Jesy Nelson from a blackfishing backlash.

Now the singer is said to be aiming to reclaim her crown and her place at the top of the charts, teaming up with rising rapper Lil Baby.

A source told The Sun: “Nicki is ready for a comeback and has got Lil Baby on board for her track, called Do We Have A Problem?.

“It will be released in the next few weeks.

“She has been hard at work in the studio over the past year and is hoping this can help gain her some momentum again. The video has been made to shock fans and she looks incredible, so it is all systems go.”

While Nicki’s chart comeback is imminent, The Sun also hints she is likely to find herself in a classic chart battle as singing rival Cardi B is due to ‘drop a new song’ of her own within the next couple of weeks too.

Last year Nicki caused a stir when she hit out at Little Mix while defending Jesy Nelson – who became engulfed in a race row when she released the video for her debut solos single, Boyz, which featured Nicki.

She branded Little Mix stars Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall “clowns” as she hit out at the group.

And she also defended Jesy – who was accused of appropriating black culture in her music video by wearing heavy fake tan and putting her hair in braids.

Nicki said: “It’s a lot of women out here in the United States that tan, get bigger lips, get all types of s**t done to themselves.

“I wear blonde hair straight down to my feet, contacts, whatever… as long as you’re not hurting nobody or speaking negatively about someone’s race you should be able to wear whatever you want to.”

Also last year, Nicki manoeuvred herself into an online argument with the British government as she claimed she had a cousin whose testicles had an adverse reaction to the Covid-19 virus.

England’s chief medical officer Chris Whitty accused the singer of “pedalling untruths” about the virus.

This prompted Nicki to declare her “love” for Chris via Twitter – and she later sent a tweet to Prime Minister Boris Johnson with a voice note where she mocked British accents and offered to share her "portfolio" of work with him.
