Nicki Chapman's time on BBC Radio 2's early-morning breakfast show has come to an end. The popular presenter has said goodbye to her listeners.
The Pop Idol star, 56, posted a heartfelt leaving post on Twitter. Nicki said it was the last time she would be sitting in the "hot seat or should that be damn early seat".
She wrote: "Massive thanks to all the fabulous late shifters, truckers and early birds who have let me be part of this wonderful community at silly o'clock and for your lovely messages today." One of the star's Twitter followers feared it was a permanent goodbye, asking Nicki: "Last time ever?"

The presenter quickly cleared things up, replying: "Last time covering early breakfast but pleased to say still part of the R2 family." One Twitter user said: "You will be massively missed, loved waking up to your mellow voice, like Vanessa before you, just what is needed in the waking state early in the morning.
"How times will change moving forward." Another Twitter user said: "You made it so much easier getting out of bed at silly o'clock for work! Take care hun."
Radio 2 has been introducing younger hosts over recent years. Veteran stars like Graham Norton, Paul O'Grady, Ken Bruce and Steve Wright have been making way for new presenters such as former Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills and comedian Rob Beckett, reports the Mirror.
