TORONTO — This is how Nickelback reminds us that Vancouver can rock.
Two years after COVID-19 sidelined Chad Kroeger and his band's massive tour plans, the Hanna, Alta.-bred act is plotting a west coast party on Canada Day.
Nickelback is set to headline an outdoor concert on the Vancouver E-Prix track as part of Canadian E-Fest, an all-electric motorsports racing weekend.
Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday.
It's Nickelback's first Canadian concert since 2019 and one of their first performances since the start of the pandemic.
Kroeger says in a statement that the band has been "waiting to get back on the stage for way too long."
Originally, Nickelback planned to embark on a North American tour for the 15th anniversary of "All the Right Reasons," their fifth studio album which features "Photograph" and "Far Away."
More than 45 concerts slated for that year were postponed at the start of the pandemic.
Canadian E-Fest runs from June 30 to July 2 with an array of events that include the Vancouver E-Prix and a celebrity electric car race.
