Liam Payne recently caught some heat after an appearance on Logan Paul’s podcast where he dished about his true feelings towards his 1D bandmates.
While other band members had gone to extreme lengths to keep private matters private such as eating a scorpion, Payne didn’t hold back.
His comments included digs at Mullingar native Niall Horan.
Here’s a look at the pair's relationship over the years.
Recent digs
During an interview, Payne claimed that whenever it came to making decisions the singer would always be “on the fence.”
He said: “The famous Niall phrase within the band was always ‘sure I’m on fence with this one,’ like every single time we had an argument or something was going on Niall would always be on the fence like his arse must be hurting.”
When a clip of this was played for Horan during an interview he was clearly less than impressed by his former bandmates comments.
“I don’t know where he’s pulling any of this out of. Maybe out his arse,” he said, trying to laugh it off.
It’s clear his words cut deep as Horan no longer follows Payne on Instagram.
Everybody wants to steal my girl
Back when the band was in the studio writing and recording for their album Four Horan apparently wrote a song about Payne's girlfriend at the time.
“There is a song about Sophia and I didn’t write it, which is a bit weird,” explained Liam. “I wrote the melody for it. It’s called Illusion.
“Me and Julian - who we write songs with - were talking, we just went outside for a chat and I was telling him about what happened with me. After I left, he went back and phoned me up like, ‘Hi, we wrote the whole song about Sophia’, and I was like… ‘Okay, this is strange..’” the singer said.
Not awkward at all…
The good times
It wasn’t always snide comments and awkward interviews, there were the good times as well.
During an old interview Horan had commented that he was dressed pretty badly and Liam stepped in to offer him a confidence boost.
After his harsh words towards himself Liam quickly quipped to the Irishman, “excuse me Niall you look exceptional, don’t ever talk yourself down like that on camera.”
Solid advice that he seems to have taken himself as he bragged to Logan Paul about all his achievements and his “legacy.”
There was even talk earlier this year of the pair reuniting to play a round of golf.
The ‘Strip That Down’ singer is allegedly wanting to enhance his skills by the end of the year to take on Horan, who has spent years perfecting the sport.
“He’s good but I’m going to try to be better,” Payne said to the Sun back in January,
“This is my year of playing golf.”
Back in June last year, Liam called out Niall on Instagram, hinting a game between the two was on the way.
Payne documented his golfing skills on a video he posted to his Instagram Stories at the time, writing the caption: “@niallhoran you better watch yourself.”
Something tells us tee time has been postponed for now.
