A Lisburn woman has been named Irish Hairdresser of the Year after showcasing her 'phenomenal' talent.
Julie Cherry is salon manager at Shane Bennett Hair has been in the industry for 18 years.
She was awarded at the Professional Beauty and Hairdressers Journal Ireland Beauty, Hair and Spa Awards 2022.

Julie claimed her status 'after showcasing phenomenal original hair work which demonstrated technical skill, creative vision and comprehension of current trends'.
The Lisburn woman was previously inducted into the British Hairdressing Awards Hall of Fame last year - having won Northern Ireland Hairdresser of the Year in 2016, 2017 and 2020.
Julie specialises in cutting and finishing hair with a true love for precision cutting and is 'renowned for her own slick bob'.
Judged independently by leading hairdressing experts, Julie fought off stiff competition from NI and Ireland’s most successful hairdressers to claim the coveted prize.
Julie said: “Entering awards is a great way to stay current within hairdressing and fashion. It’s always the best feeling to win awards but to have won Irish Hairdresser of the Year is just amazing.”

The awards in their inaugural year were launched to celebrate creativity, business acumen and achievement in the beauty, hair and spa sector. Featuring 14 categories, the awards reward the individuals and teams who are making waves within their business as well as influencing the broader landscape of the industry.
The prestigious black tie event took place recently at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin with Julie receiving the title in front of a packed audience of beauticians, therapists and hairdressing peers, influencers and press. Host for the evening was comedian Andrew Ryan, who was joined by Jayne Lewis-Orr, Executive Director of PB & HJ’s Ireland Awards.
