NI man opens up on losing his voice to Covid-19 and moment he could sing again

This is the moment Andrew McMurdie took to the stage again to perform to a crowd after losing his voice for three months due to Covid-19.

The 22-year-old, from Poyntzpass, used Post It notes and a whiteboard to communicate with his family after he contracted the virus in 2021. A talented singer, Andrew says losing his voice was a huge blow, and something he worked hard to come back from.

Speaking to Belfast Live two years after he tested positive for coronavirus, Andrew said he has now written two of his own songs, and was overjoyed to be invited to the NI Country Music Awards last week, where he sung to a room full of people.
