When dad-of-four Craig Patterson, returned home from six weeks of humanitarian work in Ukraine, he brought back with him another mouth to feed.
Olena is a young dog, a Collie mix who was named after her owner who was living just 700 metres from the front line when she was killed.
Craig, 31, said: "We visited this lovely lady, Olena, at her home in the city of Lyman which had recently been liberated in October by Ukrainian forces, and she'd been planning to set up a humanitarian aid centre and the charity I was volunteering with, was going to help her.
