Women in England who have consistently missed their cervical screening appointments will soon be offered the option of performing DIY tests at home, in a significant move aimed at boosting uptake and preventing cervical cancer cases.
The self-administered tests are designed to detect the human papillomavirus (HPV), which is responsible for the vast majority of cervical cancer diagnoses.
