England is facing serious blood shortages amid fears hospitals may not have the supplies needed to carry out operations.
Supplies of the common O blood types are reportedly down to less than three days’ worth and the NHS supply network is on the brink.
NHS Blood and Transplant has already written to hospitals asking them not to over-order supplies.
