The 2024 NFL season kicks off on Thursday night when the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs host the Baltimore Ravens.

This is the final week in which teams are ranked and judged based on what others think of them, not what’s happened on the field. At this time next week, every NFL team will have played one game. So, some teams will look as expected in Week 1, while others may take a bit longer to get going.

That means it’s time for some NFL power rankings. What do others think of the Washington Commanders ahead of Week 1?

Let’s examine where Washington stands in the weekly power rankings roundup:

Here’s what Bleacher Report said about Washington:

“Of any squad lower on this list, the Commanders should be the most excited about the upcoming season,” he said. “They have the most potential to be this year’s version of the Houston Texans. The Commanders have a young, dynamic quarterback in Daniels.

CBS Sports Pete Prisco makes a prediction about Jayden Daniels:

Jayden Daniels will be the Offensive Rookie of the Year. But they have some other issues that could hold this team back.

Washington lands anywhere from 23-32 in the various power rankings, which sounds accurate until the Commanders prove they can win. The optimism surrounding Daniels is real, though. If Daniels is as expected, the Commanders will rise.
