1. If you play golf or if you are the significant other of someone who plays golf, carve out the next three minutes to watch this tremendous rant from Sara Walsh.
Walsh, filling in for Jamie Erdhal on Wednesday’s Good Morning Football, had some harsh words for spouses who spend all day on the golf course.
From the time it takes to play to the dude who plays in jean shorts to grabbing food to getting annoyed by phone calls during a round to the evaluation of their game to golf gadgets purchased on Amazon, Walsh covers a ton of ground with her complaints.
"It takes the international space station 90 minutes to orbit around the earth... It takes you 90 minutes to shoot 6 over through the first 6 holes."@Sara_Walsh just dropped everything all of the disgruntled golf spouses can relate to... ⛳🏌️♂️🏌️♀️ pic.twitter.com/isK9clx9Ni

Traina Thoughts would like to send thoughts and prayers to Walsh’s husband at this time.
2. I hate when people say, “What can I say?” or “There are no words” or “I’m at a loss for words” and then proceed to say a bunch of stuff.
However, I’m about to do that. What can you possibly say about Shohei Ohtani at this point?
On Tuesday night, Ohtani went 3-for-3 with two home runs. He also tossed 6.1 innings of one-run ball while striking out 10 in leading the Angels to a 4–2 win against the White Sox.
The lone downside for Ohtani was that he couldn't properly celebrate his home runs because he had to get ready to take the mound in the next half inning.
After hitting a HR, Shohei Ohtani had to get ready to pitch the next inning.

So, guess who got the Samurai Home Run Celebration Helmet?

For the season, Ohtani is batting .304, has 28 home runs and 64 RBIs. He’s also 7–3 with a 3.02 ERA and has 127 strikeouts in 95.1 innings pitched.
Again, what can you say?
Here's how he ranks among the league leaders in various categories.
Ohtani has been absolutely insane.

Here’s some historical perspective on Ohtani’s unreal season.
Shohei Ohtani of the @Angels is the first MLB player to reach base 4+ times, hit 2+ home runs and strike out 10+ batters all in the same game since Jack Stivetts did so for the St. Louis Browns against the Toledo Maumees on June 10, 1890.
— OptaSTATS (@OptaSTATS) June 28, 2023
Shohei Ohtani is the 6th pitcher with 10 K & 2 HR in a game since the mound moved to it's current distance in 1893.

- Babe Ruth 149 home runs.
- Shohei Ohtani 155 home runs.
First 445.0 innings pitched:

- Shohei Ohtani 35-17, 2.97 ERA, 568 SO, WHIP 1.08. pic.twitter.com/4YHaXMSyWm
Here's more Ohtani ridiculousness.
Shohei Ohtani now has 16 games with 10+ strikeouts since the start of last season, 5 more than anyone else in MLB in that span
— Sarah Langs (@SlangsOnSports) June 28, 2023
HE ALSO HAS 61 HR IN THAT SPAN
Here's his impact on the futures betting market.

Again, there’s nothing really to say about Ohtani’s season.
Actually, there is one thing: We need to know the story behind Angels manager Phil Nevin’s flipping Ohtani the bird Wednesday.

3. A few months ago, J.J. Watt told Pardon My Take that he was looking forward to trying weed for the first time in his life.
On a recent episode of the Green Light podcast, Chris and Kyle Long had a lot of advice for Watt on what to do for his first experience while giving the future Hall of Famer the nickname “J.J Pot.”

4. DirecTV announced Wednesday that it will be carrying the RedZone channel for all customers this season. In the past, RedZone was available to only DirecTV customers who subscribed to NFL Sunday Ticket.
I answered a few other questions about Sunday Ticket and YouTube in this week’s SI Media Mailbag, which was published Wednesday morning.
5. When broadcasters ad-lib during garbage time of a game, you never know what you are going to get.
On Wednesday, with the Mets leading the Brewers 7–2 in the eighth inning, SNY’s Gary Cohen, who is an excellent play-by-play guy, and Keith Hernandez, started to talk wrestling.
While Hernandez held his own talking about “Rowdy” Roddy Piper being “quite the character,” Cohen had an unforgivable flub, referring to “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as “Wonder Boy Ric Flair.”
Absolutely brutal wrestling convo here between Gary and Keith ... "wonder boy" ric flair 🤦🏻♂️ pic.twitter.com/LkH5xG1hxC

Since Cohen is unfamiliar with Flair, here's a quick reminder on just who he is.
6. The latest SI Media With Jimmy Traina features a conversation with The Ringer’s Bryan Curtis about the latest sports media news, including Stephen A. Smith’s wild podcast, what’s going on with The Athletic, coverage of Zion Williamson’s off-the-court drama and much more.
Following Curtis, Sal Licata from WFAN radio and SNY TV in New York joins me for our weekly “Traina Thoughts” segment. This week, Sal goes in-depth on his huge promotion that will see him going from the overnight show to the 10 a.m.–2 p.m. show on WFAN, what the response has been like, whether he’ll still be able to do the “Traina Thoughts” segment every week and more.
You can listen to the podcast below or download it on Apple, Spotify and Google.
