While the 2023 NFL draft has just recently concluded, there’s still a ton of time left until the start of a new season. So much can happen before then, including minicamps, training camps and the preseason.
Despite this fact, NFL analysts are already measuring the 32 teams across the league in their own power rankings. For his weekly column, NBC Sports’ Peter King did just that, which included the Miami Dolphins’ ranking at No. 8 behind the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions and Baltimore Ravens.
Here’s what King wrote about Miami:
“Slight edge over the Jets counting on two big things happening: Tua Tagovailoa being healthy for 15 games and new defensive coordinator Vic Fangio markedly improving the league’s 24th-ranked scoring defense.”
Interestingly, King divided the NFL teams into tiers within the power rankings. The Eagles fell into their own tier at the top called “Can’t find a weakness.” The next tier, “They’ve got Super Bowl vibes,” included the Chiefs, Bengals, 49ers and Bills.
The Dolphins find themselves in the third tier – “They’re on the border.” This tier includes the Lions, Ravens, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys.
