The New England Patriots can go several directions with the third overall selection in the 2024 NFL draft. However, a recent report offers some clarity into the organization’s strategies for the picks.
Much of the talk has been centered around if the Patriots will select a quarterback third overall. There’s also the possibility that Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. could be available in that spot as well. There are many ways that New England can go with this draft pick. Perhaps the only certainty here is that whoever they select in that spot will be a crucial pillar of their franchise
NFL insider Diana Russini appeared on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” earlier this week. She noted that she does not believe the chances of them trading the selection are very high. However, she did offer a little bit of insight into a potential plan, as transcribed by NESN.com’s Sean T. McGuire.
“Quarterback is very much what they’re honed in on,” Russini said on the podcast. “They’re also in for a stud receiver, I can tell you that. So that could mean through the draft, bring on a veteran, that could mean two free agents.”
The Patriots have several holes to fill offensively. Acting on this proposed plan by Russini would certainly help them fill in some significant areas on their roster.
