NFL Gamepass down minutes before Super Bowl leaving UK fans frustrated

UK fans who want to access US coverage of the Super Bowl have been left frustrated after NFL Gamepass problems left many unable to access coverage of the season-ending event.

The Super Bowl is one of the biggest sporting events in the world and the pinnacle of the NFL calendar but UK fans who want to watch US coverage of the event have been left frustrated after NFL Gamepass crashed minutes before the game.

NFL Gamepass is just 99p and allows UK fans to watch the match between last year's beaten finalists Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles and the US coverage also includes Rihanna's hotly anticipated half time show as well as the famous Super Bowl half time commercials. However, fans have reported issues with the NFL's Gamepass website which is showing error messages when people try to sign up to the website via payment portal Paypal.

A fan trying to access the service says: "I want to watch American commercials because it makes me feel like I'm traveling abroad but NFL game pass is down :("

In the UK fansa can tune in to ITV, which will be broadcasting the Super Bowl live and free, having inked a three-year deal with NFL for the glittering event last summer. It's the first time the BBC won't be showing it live since 2014. Coverage begins at 10:45pm on ITV1.

Sky will also broadcast live coverage with their usual team of pundits led by Neil Reynolds via Sky Sports Main Event and their dedicated NFL channel.

Coverage will also be available online live and on demand via the ITVX app, ITV website and, for Sky subscribers, on the Sky Go app.

Fans outside the UK can sign up for a VPN to watch the ITV coverage. Services such ExpressVPN allow you to dial in and watch ITV even while out of the country, while fans can watch US coverage from outside the country using the same service.

VPNs also allow you to keep your web history completely private, keep your online data safe and secure, or stream movies and sports fixtures that aren't available in your current location.

You can get Express VPN here in time for tonight’s Super Bowl.

To watch on VPN you need to:

  • Download a VPN server like ExpressVPN or NordVPN to your laptop, tablet, phone or other streaming device of your choice
  • Once in the VPN’s interface, you then want to select a UK server
  • Head to the ITVHub and search for Super Bowl - or anything else you watch to watch
  • Press play, sit back and get ready to watch the drama unfold.
