The NFL hit the wallet of Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku hard this week.
Njoku was issued a $16,391 fine for unnecessary roughness against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 14. The play in question was in the third quarter, according to the Chronicle-Telegram’s Scott Petrak.
#Browns TE David Njoku was fined $16,391 by NFL for unnecessary roughness vs. Rams. Looks like for leg whip/attempted trip after missing cut block on run play.

It’s unclear exactly what play the fine is for, but reports speculate it occurred in the third quarter of the loss to the Rams.
This is the second big fine for Njoku this season. The NFL also fined Njoku $13,659 in Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers for a “violent gesture” he made with quarterback Deshaun Watson.
Njoku is having another solid season in Cleveland. The veteran tight end has 53 receptions for 509 yards and two touchdowns on the year. Those numbers are first, second and tied for third on the team.
