If you think the backlash is big right now over a Week 16 regular-season NFL game that’s exclusively streaming and not on regular cable, just wait until the playoffs.
Peacock delivered a streaming-only game on Christmas Eve Eve, and NFL fans shared their mad feelings about it on X (formerly Twitter). For many of them, they didn’t want to pay for NBC’s streaming service for the game. But they also noted that one of the Wild Card playoff games (on January 13, 2024) will also have the same deal. So if you’re mad now …
Here’s a sampling of the reaction from Saturday night on social media:
Sorry @peacock. Not subscribing just to watch one lonely game all season. So for first time in more than a decade, I don’t have access to a live NFL game. That’s how disinterest starts @NFL.

Instead of NBC/Peacock working on making their app more appealing to increase subscribers, they backed up a dump truck full of cash to get an exclusive NFL game. pic.twitter.com/B1VaMHl8q0

I will not download the Peacock app. This is getting out of control. #NFL #Peacock #StopTheMadness pic.twitter.com/aE9ksJ6Aa0

I hope the NFL will take a good long hard look at the viewership numbers for the #BUFvsLAC game on Peacock and cancel their plans to have a Playoff game on the same streaming service. pic.twitter.com/blfVepiFSO

Anyone else double down on NOT wanting to subscribe for something when it’s forced like this? #peacock
