The NFL news that many had been waiting for dropped on Wednesday morning: the Jets will reportedly be featured on this summer’s edition of HBO’s Hard Knocks.
New York was the expected choice, especially after the franchise made the biggest splash move of the offseason by trading for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The team was also subject to perhaps the most beloved season of the show, with the Rex Ryan-led 2010 team appearing ahead of its run to the AFC championship.
The Bears, Commanders and Saints also fit the criteria that would have allowed the league to mandate their appearances on the show, but none have the storylines that the Jets bring in 2023.
Naturally, Jets fans are a bit split about the news, but the average NFL fan has to be excited. There hasn’t been this kind of anticipation for Hard Knocks in years.

This was pretty much inevitable. Given the existing exemptions applying to most everybody in the league, the pool of available candidate teams was already small. Add in the arrival of Rodgers and the big bump in primetime slots the team got for this year, all signs were pointing… https://t.co/z9FwvZccSR
