NFL: Dawson Knox's injury puts Buffalo Bills' offense in a tight spot

NEW DELHI: Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox has been placed on the injured reserve list due to a wrist injury, which required surgery. The 26-year-old Knox initially suffered the wrist injury during a Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and this setback will see him sidelined for at least four games. This development leaves the Buffalo Bills without their starting tight end, with rookie Dalton Kincaid taking on the primary tight end role in Knox's absence.

Throughout this season, Knox has contributed 15 receptions for 102 yards and one touchdown. His career statistics include 164 receptions, 1,882 yards, and 21 touchdowns in 64 games, with 54 of those as a starter over five seasons.

To address the absence of Knox and the injured tight end Quintin Morris, Buffalo has elevated veteran cornerback Josh Norman and receiver Andy Isabella from the practice squad for their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Neither Norman nor Isabella have seen action in a game this season, with Norman boasting a career marked by 16 interceptions in 137 games played for four different teams, including Buffalo. On the other hand, Isabella has 33 receptions for 447 yards and three touchdowns in 41 games, with three starts for the Arizona Cardinals (2019-22) and the Baltimore Ravens (2022).

The Bills' inactive list for the game includes Morris and linebacker Baylon Spector, along with safety Damar Hamlin, cornerback Kaiir Elam, guard Germain Ifedi, and tackle Alec Anderson. However, star defensive tackle Ed Oliver, who was dealing with a toe injury, is expected to play.

On the Buccaneers' side, quarterback Baker Mayfield and wide receiver Chris Godwin have been cleared to play despite earlier doubts due to knee and neck injuries, respectively. Tampa Bay's inactive list comprises defensive tackle Vita Vea, guard Matt Feiler, safety Kaevon Merriweather, defensive lineman Patrick O'Connor, running back Sean Tucker, outside linebacker Markees Watts, and tight end David Wells.
