The Minnesota Vikings have hired Brian Flores as their new defensive coordinator.
Flores comes to Minnesota from Pittsburgh, where he served as the linebackers coach and senior defensive assistant in 2022. Prior to that stint, Flores was the head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 2019-2021 before he was fired. He quickly became the lead plaintiff in a class action lawsuit against the NFL alleging discriminatory hiring practices.
Flores was the successor to Matt Patricia as the defensive leader of the New England Patriots following Patricia’s move to Detroit as head coach in 2018. He’s known for an aggressive, physical style of defense.
He replaces Ed Donatell in Minnesota hoping to help fix the NFL’s 31st-ranked defense in yards allowed in 2022.
