The last showcase Sony held was on June 2, and it was one of the more notable ones in recent memory. It featured the reveal of a new "God of War" game, the first extended look at "Marvel's Wolverine," the announcement of "Until Dawn 2," and several other upcoming releases.
Next PlayStation State of Play Date Revealed
The report comes from Nash Weedle, a well-known industry insider who is primarily associated with Nintendo leaks but has a broader track record that occasionally extends to other platforms. According to the recent post, the next PlayStation State of Play is planned for September 3, and it will be a general showcase rather than a dedicated single-game presentation.
That distinction matters because Sony has been running both formats lately, alternating between broad State of Play events covering multiple titles and more focused showcases centered on one major release.
"Marvel's Wolverine" is widely expected to receive its own dedicated State of Play ahead of its September launch, which would be separate from whatever general showcase is planned for September 3.
As always, this information should be treated with caution since it has not been officially confirmed by Sony. State of Play dates can and do shift, often because aligning multiple third-party partners to be ready at the same time is a complex logistical challenge.
Sony rarely announces a State of Play more than a week in advance for exactly that reason.
