Bengaluru FC and Kerala Blasters FC reserves both ended their Next Generation Cup campaigns by finishing fourth in their respective groups. Rob Quinn, coach of the Crystal Palace academy team, which defeated Kerala Blasters 4-1 in London on Saturday was optimistic that one day Next Generation Cup will provide the platform for an Indian footballer to play in Premier League.
“Why not is the question. There should not be any reason why not,” said Quinn. “The Next Generation Cup is going to provide Indian youngsters the exposure to the levels of what they can hope to achieve one day. There is definitely some optimism I think,” added Quinn, an alumnus of the Crystal Palace academy himself during his playing days.
