Jurgen Klopp was only days removed from setting a new League Cup record at Liverpool when the barrage of questions about his future came.
The Reds boss, with the noise of a ninth success in that competition no doubt still ringing in his ears, was sitting with the media at the club’s AXA Training Centre in early March when he was quizzed about whether or not he would remain in charge beyond what were then his terms until 2024.
Klopp sounded like he genuinely did not know at the time but mused on the factors that would be considered if he was to remain at Anfield further than the nine years that were slated.
