Simon Cowell has kicked off the new series of Britain's Got Talent with a cheeky dig towards David Walliams.
The music mogul - who recently announced his engagement to Lauren Silverman - has poked fun at David's short-lived marriage to ex-wife Lara Stone.
As the two stars began filming the latest series of the ITV talent show, Simon's happy news became a topic of conversation on the judging panel.
One of the first acts to audition, a dance troupe, saw one of the hopeful dancers don a Britain's Got Talent mask impersonating David - sitting on 'Simon's' knee and popping the question, according to the Daily Star.
After the humorous routine, Little Britain star David, 50, decided to make a quip about his boss' engagement news - only for Simon, 62, to have the last laugh.
"It was good you brought it up to date with the engagement," David told the auditionees during his feedback.
"I mean, they only had a kid seven years go. He took his time."
Having none of it, Simon cheekily hit back with: "Hopefully mine will last longer than yours David!"
David's marriage to supermodel Lara Stone end in 2015, after five years together.
The former couple met in 2009, with the comedian popping the question to the 37-year-old Dutch model in Los Angeles just months after they started dating.
They tied the knot at London's Claridge's Hotel in May 2010 and two years later, in December 2012, announced they were expecting their first child, Alfred who they welcomed into the world on May 6 2013.
The pair embarked on a trial separation in March 2015, after 'drifting apart' which led to their subsequent divorce in September of the same year.
Earlier this month, it was confirmed that X Factor creator Simon had finally popped the question to the mother of his child Lauren - after a nine year romance.
In the past, TV's Mr Nasty famously swerved questions about when he might marry Lauren, once joking, "Gulp!" when questioned by one interviewer.
However, it seems the dad-of-one changed his views on marriage after breaking his back in 2020 - crediting his now fiancée with being his "rock" during the ordeal.
An insider told The Sun : "Simon and Lauren are ridiculously, nauseatingly in love - incredibly, lockdown brought them closer than ever.
"Lauren was absolutely stunned and never in a million years expected Simon to pop the question. She burst into tears - happy tears - and obviously said 'yes' straight away."
Newly engaged Simon is also celebrating some good news in his professional life too - with ITV show Britain's Got Talent finally back, following a brief hiatus due to the ongoing pandemic.
David, Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon all reunited over the weekend, as filming began at the London Palladium for the latest instalment of the talent show.
Britain's Got Talent will air on ITV later this year.
