Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has provided fans with an update on Alexander Isak’s latest injury ahead of their clash with Liverpool.
Alexander Isak Injury: Positive Signs Says Eddie Howe
Newcastle were left sweating over Alexander Isak‘s fitness after he picked up an injury in their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.
Isak was substituted inside the first 25 minutes and left Newcastle to fear the worst. However, Magpies boss Eddie Howe has now reassured fans that Isak’s injury is unlikely to be ‘long-term’.
Howe revealed that Isak would be assessed ahead of Wednesday’s home game with Liverpool.
Eddie Howe's team-news ahead of #NEWLIV:
"Alex [Isak] took a knock to his hip; we haven’t seen him in training yet, but we don’t think it a long-term injury. Dan [Burn] got through the game well, when he got suspended, we used that as an opportunity to look after his ankle and… pic.twitter.com/tkN9zvIoZE

“He took a knock to his hip and wasn’t able to carry on. We haven’t seen him in training yet,” he said.
“We don’t think it’s a long-term injury. We’ll see (re Liverpool). It will be about pain management.”
Isak Confirms It Was A ‘Bad Knock’
Alexander Isak has also moved to quell fans’ fears that his injury against Palace was ‘a bad knock’ but he is ‘fine’.
The Swedish striker has endured a frustrating time on the sidelines already this season, where he was ruled out for two games with a broken toe.
Isak hopes to be back for the Reds’ visit to St James’ Park in midweek. He told beIN Sports: “I am fine. It was really painful, a bad knock but I’ve responded well.”

Isak has scored five goals in 13 games this season, with four of them coming in the Premier League.
Having been blighted by injuries in previous seasons, Magpies fans will be hoping Isak will be consistently playing football from here on out and will continue his fine scoring record of one in every two games for the club. Currently, Isak has 40 goals in 80 games for Newcastle and seven assists to his name.
