Newcastle United have been told to not pay 'top dollar' for Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Kaoru Mitoma amid rumours Alexis Mac Allister is set to join top four rivals Liverpool.
The Japan international has burst onto the Premier League stage this season by helping the Seagulls claim a possible top-six finish, netting seven goals and finding five assists in 27 matches.
Following his impressive displays this season, many have wondered whether he'll stay at the Amex Stadium for another season under manager Roberto De Zerbi or if he'll take his talents elsewhere.

It's been reported that both Arsenal and the Magpies are set to launch bids in order to secure his services, but former Gunners midfielder Paul Merson says he should stay with the Seagulls for another term.
"Alexis Mac Allister is a player who has been linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks," Merson wrote for SportsKeeda in his prediction column for this weekend's action.
"I can’t see the Argentine midfielder staying at Brighton beyond the current season, but I still feel Kaoru Mitoma could remain at the Amex Stadium for another year, at least.
"Don’t get me wrong, he’s a fantastic player and is very nice to watch, but I still can’t see teams paying top dollar for him. Not yet, at least."
