Stuart Atwell has been confirmed as the referee for Newcastle United's Premier League clash with Manchester United at St James' Park on Sunday.
The two teams will meet for the third time this season after the conclusion of the international break. A 0-0 draw at Old Trafford was followed by Wembley heartbreak as Erik ten Hag's side ran out 2-0 winners in the Carabao Cup final in February.
Eddie Howe will be hoping his side can make the home advantage count as they look to inflict revenge on the Red Devils when they travel to Tyneside for the top-flight match. The game will have serious ramifications on the race for the top four as a win for the Magpies would see them leapfrog Man United and move up into third place ahead of Tottenham's clash with Everton on Monday night.

Atwell has now been confirmed as the referee for the game after he took charge of Newcastle's first Carabao Cup semi-final leg with Southampton. It will be the fourth time that he has officiated a fixture involving the Magpies as he also took the whistle for a 4-1 Premier League win against the Saints and the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth last month.
Six Newcastle players have been cautioned by Atwell in the three games he has overseen, with none of Howe's squad seeing red under the matchday official so far. He will be joined by assistants Lee Betts and Darren Cann, fourth official Michael Salisbury and VAR Andy Madley.
