Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe named an unchanged line-up for the final clash of 2022 at St James' Park.
Howe resisted the chance to tweak his attack despite having Callum Wilson available again after illness. That meant Chris Wood was entrusted to lead the line against his old club.

Howe named Nick Pope between the posts and a back four of Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn. Sean Longstaff, Bruno Guimaraes and Joe Willock patrolled the midfield.
And in-form Miguel Almiron, Wood and Joelinton continued in attack with all three on target in the last game against Leicester City.
