Eddie Howe named a strong side to face AFC Bournemouth in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup at St James' Park.
Newcastle were bidding for a place in the quarter-finals in a competition Howe has already stated he has visualised winning. And he backed up those intentions with his team sheet this evening.
Howe went with Nick Pope in goal while Kieran Trippier skippered the team at right-back. Sven Botman and Fabian Schar were the two in the heart of defence while Dan Burn returned at left-back.

The midfield consisted of Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock with Jonjo Shelvey only named as sub. And Howe's attack did not feature Chris Wood as many - including the striker himself - expected.
Instead, Callum Wilson returned and had Miguel Almiron and Joelinton either side of him. Howe had Allan Saint-Maximin, Jacob Murphy and Jamaal Lascelles on the bench.
