Newcastle United urged to make Allan Saint-Maximin future decision amid transfer uncertainty

Newcastle United fan favourite Allan Saint-Maximin is the subject of transfer speculation following a frustrating season. Eddie Howe is keen to keep hold of the Magpies' number 10, although recent reports suggest the club could be tempted to cash-in if a suitable offer is lodged.

Saint-Maximin fanned the flames with a cryptic social media post last month, suggesting he had reached a 'turning point' after spending a large spell of last season either on the bench or on the sidelines. The 26-year-old began the season in fine form, producing a standout display in the home draw with Manchester City in August and following this up with a sensational equaliser at Wolves.

However, hamstring problems and the team's form in his absence meant Saint-Maximin largely spent the remainder of the campaign on the periphery. Newcastle have not added to their forward options so far this summer, but the former Nice star already faces a fight to regain his starting spot on the left side of attack with Alexander Isak, Anthony Gordon, Joelinton and Joe Willock all proving themselves capable in the position.

This reduced standing in the squad has led to a report suggesting Saint-Maximin has now emerged as the latest target for the Saudi Pro League. However, the Toon Army have sent a clear message on whether they believe the club should be willing to accept the forward's exit in this window.

Thousands of Newcastle fans participated in our latest 'Keep or Sell' survey, and the result when it came to Saint-Maximin was outstanding. Out of more than 34,000 responses, almost 70% of supporters voted to keep the Magpies' attacker at the club.

It is a timely reminder of Saint-Maximin's status at the club in the light of new rumours over his future. The popular Newcastle forward does not hold the same status as he once did at St James' Park, but the majority still believe he can play a key role for the club in the upcoming season.
