Mohamed Salisu has been left out of Southampton's recent squads due to uncertainty surrounding his commitment to the club. The Sun reported in March that Newcastle are interested in signing Mohamed Salisu on a cut-price deal, with his current contract at Southampton set to expire in the summer of 2025.
Newcastle are reportedly plotting a £15 million move for the Ghana international, who joined Saints from Real Valladolid in 2020.
The report adds that Southampton expect Salisu to leave if they suffer relegation from the relegation. Ruben Selles' side are rock bottom in the Premier League and four points adrift of safety.
And according to The Athletic, Salisu, who has also been linked with Aston Villa and Manchester United, has been omitted from Southampton's recent squads despite being free of injury.
Salisu has played just one of Southampton's last eight league games, and has been left out of the squad entirely for their defeats against West Ham and Manchester City respectively. Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has previously been an admirer of the defender, who described him as 'rock solid'.
