Newcastle United are in the chase for Real Valladolid youngster Ivan Fresneda but have Atletico Madrid and Juventus for company.
The Spain Under-19 right-back has a release clause of £27million but that will rise to around £40million at the end of the season. A report in Marca shows Newcastle head scout Steve Nickson sitting with the player's agent Luis Bardaji during Real Valladolid's 2-0 La Liga defeat against Real Madrid.
Talent spotter Nickson watched the La Liga team's last game of 2022 and the report in Marca suggested a structured deal which could see Fresneda arrive in England before being back out to Valladolid until the end of the season. Newcastle are, of course, in a strong position in the right-back area with Kieran Trippier leading the team into Champions League contention this season as captain.

Eddie Howe has Javier Manquillo as back up but also has eyes on the future. Although, Fresneda also has admirers in AC Milan as well as Atletico and Juventus.
When asked on transfers at his last Press conference, Howe said: "We’re not close to anything, so we’ll see how the window unfolds."
