Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Sunday, October 2.
Potter on Pulisic
Graham Potter has hinted at a potential future for Christian Pulisic at Chelsea. Under former manager Thomas Tuchel, the American appeared destined for the Stamford Bridge exit and reports linked him with a move to Tyneside.
Manchester United were also reportedly interested during the summer but Potter has deflected suggestions of a possible departure. The Blues boss said: “He has been really positive. He’s a smart guy. My conversation with him has been good, positive.

“I’m not going to judge anybody on what’s happened in the past. I make my own mind up. Football hopefully decides.”
No-Riley, says Celtic boss
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglu does not believe Matt O’Riley will be affected by speculation about his future amid continued Newcastle links. Less than two years ago, the 21-year-old signed terms with MK Dons after being released by Fulham.
Now, after moving north of the border in January, rumours are already circulating over where the midfielder will end up next. O’Riley’s dramatic rise saw him become a Toon target throughout the summer.
“You could say Matt has had a meteoric rise," Postecoglu said." "But this time last year he was playing with MK Dons in League One, so I think he understands the other side of football.
“He was literally training in the park with his dad and a personal trainer not all that long ago, so he’s seen that side of it.
“You can’t worry too much about speculation or what the next step is — the time when footballers maybe fall into the trap is when everything’s gone well for them and there are no setbacks. Even the best players in the world have setbacks, and Matty has had that."
Maddison’s preference
James Maddison would prefer a move to Tottenham Hotspur, according to Football Insider. Similarly to Pulisic and O’Riley, the Leicester City midfielder was also regularly linked to Newcastle all summer.
ChronicleLive understands the Magpies had two bids rejected for Maddison and, with two years left on his contract, Toon chiefs were hoping for a cut-price deal. The Foxes may be forced to accept a lower offer as their asset approaches the final 18 months of his deal.
However, fresh reports claim Spurs are the 25-year-old’s preferred destination. As it stands, Leicester are currently rock-bottom of the Premier League.
