Newcastle United transfer rumours as Sevilla make Diego Carlos decision & rival Dele Alli interest

Here is your 4am Newcastle United transfer digest.

Carlos decision?

Newcastle United will continue to push for a deal for Diego Carlos but Sevilla have decided to keep the centre-back, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The Magpies' pursuit of the Brazil international has taken numerous twists and turns over the last fortnight, with the new owners determined to bolster the defensive options at Eddie Howe's disposal.

Sevilla's valuation of Carlos has varied between several reports, with Sky Sports claiming on Tuesday that a fee in the region of £38m would be enough to land the 28-year-old.

However, Romano's latest update indicates that while the Magpies will continue to work on a deal, the La Liga title-chasers may have closed the door on a January transfer.

Alli competition

In addition to their well-publicised moves for Sven Botman and Carlos, Newcastle have also been linked with moves for England internationals Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard.

Alli has struggled for game-time under three successive Tottenham managers, and reports suggest Antonio Conte has sanctioned a January exit for the 25-year-old.

Newcastle have been credited with a mid-season loan move, but the MailOnline claim the out-of-favour Spurs playmaker could have a number of Premier League options.

The title report Brighton, Burnley and Everton are also mulling over moves for Alli in the final week of the window.

Rogerio claim

The Magpies are close to agreeing a deal for Sassuolo left-back Rogerio, according to Brazilian outlet TNT Sports.

A fee in the region of £12.5m is expected to secure the arrival of the 24-year-old, who is said to have turned down interest from two European clubs to secure a move to Tyneside.

Rogerio has made 114 appearances for the Serie A side since making the move from Juventus in the summer of 2019.
