A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Saturday, 10 September.
Magpies set to battle Arsenal and Juventus for Spanish left-back
Newcastle United are reportedly set to challenge Arsenal and Juventus for the signing of Benfica left-back Alejandro Grimaldo in January. SportWitness, who has translated TuttoJuve - a site that covers Juventus - claims the Magpies present serious competition for the Serie A club.
The Turin based club are considering a January swoop for the former Barcelona defender, who is claimed to be available for "less than €10million." Grimaldo has been a mainstay with the Portuguese side since making the move in 2016.
The 26-year-old has clocked up over 250 appearances with the Eagles and is widely considered one of the best defenders in the division. The Spaniard has been repeatedly linked with a move to St. James' Park since the takeover last season.
Ben Foster turns down short-term contract with Newcastle United
Football Insider claims former Manchester United shot stopper and current free agent Ben Foster has turned down a short-term contract with Newcastle United. The 39-year-old is without a club having left recently relegated side Watford.
The Magpies have since made the move to sign former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius on a short-term deal after an injury to Karl Darlow in training earlier this week. The German is expected to sign a deal until January.
The report claims Foster, who has made 390 appearances in the top flight, turned down an approach from Newcastle as he looks for the next step in his career.
