Liverpool and Tottenham set to challenge Newcastle in James Maddison race
Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly challenge Newcastle United in the race to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison.
Newcastle had two bids rejected for Maddison back in the summer, and continued to be linked with the England international during the January transfer window.

The Magpies have long been the favourites to land Maddison, but they will now face stern competition if they want to prise him away from Leicester and to St James' Park in the summer.
Graeme Bailey of 90Min tweeted: "Liverpool and Tottenham both confirming their interest in James Maddison. Newcastle long seen as favourites to land the Leicester man, but they will have a battle to get the England midfielder."
Maddison has racked up nine goals and six assists in 23 appearances in the Premier League, despite Leicester City's struggles this season.
He was also recalled by England boss Gareth Southgate during the latest international break, and earned his first cap in over three years in a 2-0 win over Ukraine.
Santiago Gimenez link
Newcastle are interested in signing Feyenoord centre-forward Santiago Gimenez in the summer, according to Calciomercato.
Gimenez arrived in Rotterdam from Cruz Azul back in the summer and has marked his debut season in Europe with 17 goals in 36 matches across all competitions.
The 21-year-old has also been capped 10 times for Mexico and has scored twice for his country. Gimenez has been a pivotal figure in Feyenoord's title push, with Arne Slot's side currently boasting an eight-point lead at the Eredivisie summit.
He has scored in each of his last five games in all competitions, and has attracted interest from a number of clubs in recent months.
A report from 90Min earlier this week claimed that Aston Villa, Leicester City, Brentford, Brighton, and Crystal Palace were the five other clubs chasing his signature.
