Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Friday, September 23.
Foster negotiations
Football agent Richard Lee has opened up on the negotiations that almost brought Ben Foster to Newcastle United earlier this month. Lee was representing Foster during talks with the Magpies in their search for a new backup goalkeeper.
Speaking in an interview with the Athletic, Lee revealed that Newcastle agreed to meet all of Foster’s demands, but ultimately the former Watford goalkeeper decided it was the right time to retire.
“That was when I got the call (from Foster) to say, ‘Rich, I’m not sure’. We had a few more calls and shared a few messages in which it sounded like he was coming round to it, but then I got the final call and I knew at that point it was a no.

“He’d asked for that figure almost not wanting them to get there, and the moment they accepted it that provided clarity in his mind that he was done. Naturally there’s disappointment because he would have been perfect for the role.”
Romano on Pulisic
Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Newcastle United were heavily keen on Chelsea winger Christian Pulisic in the summer. The Magpies were on the hunt for a new winger with Pulisic on their list of options.
Romano claims that Newcastle wanted Pulisic on a loan deal rather than permanent, which is why the deal never went through. Speaking on the Que Golazo Podcast, he said: “Strong interest from Newcastle [in Pulisic]. Newcastle were obsessed with Christian.
“They wanted him on loan, but not on a permanent deal. They wanted him on loan, maybe with a buy option, not mandatory. And this is why Chelsea decided to say no.”
Tielemans
Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans does not regret his decision to stay with the Foxes this summer amid contract uncertainty around his future. The Belgian international was linked with a deadline day move to Newcastle for a mooted fee of around £25m but no transfer emerged for Tielemans who decided to stay at the King Power Stadium instead.
However, that decision now looks to have been a poor one with Leicester currently sat bottom of the Premier League table having lost six of their opening seven fixtures. But speaking while away on international duty with Belgium, Tielemans revealed he does not regret his decision to remain with Leicester this summer, despite their dismal start to the season.
"I'm not going to speak too much about my contract situation at the moment. I didn't leave Leicester in the summer as I always said the project had to be the right one. Just because things are getting worse now at Leicester doesn't mean I should regret [staying]."
