Newcastle United transfer rumours amid 'seven-man' summer wish list emerges and Hugo Ekitike race

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, April 6.

Seven-man wishlist

Newcastle United have drawn up a seven-man summer wishlist following a meeting between Amanda Staveley and her Saudi investors. That is according to the Daily Mirror, who claim the Magpies are first of all looking to tie centre back Fabian Schar down to a new contract with his current deal set to expire in the summer.

Newcastle are set to target strengthening the spine of their team with Bournemouth captain Lloyd Kelly high up the list. Premier League lynchpins Kalvin Phillips and Yves Bissouma are also their top midfield targets, while Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Darwin Nunez could be brought in up front. Goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Dean Henderson make up the remainder of the list.

Magpies lead Ekitike race

Newcastle United are reportedly leading the race to sign Stade Reims striker Hugo Ekitike this summer. That is according to Football Insider, who claim that Ekitike is the Magpies’ top forward target after their failed January move.

Newcastle were close to bringing in the 19-year-old on deadline day in the winter window but a move broke down after he reportedly opted against making the move to England. Ekitike has enjoyed a prolific season in France this year with 10 goals in 23 appearances and is regarded as one of France’s top young talents.

Saint-Maximin future

Newcastle United could reportedly allow forward Allan Saint-Maximin to depart the club this summer with two Premier League clubs keen on his signature. That is according to 90min.com, who claim Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton are keeping tabs on his situation.

The report states that Saint-Maximin has been seeking an improvement on his current deal at St. James’ Park but no talks have been initiated, meaning his agent has been looking elsewhere for other potential options. The 25-year-old has been in good form for much of the season for Newcastle with five goals and three assists in 27 appearances.
