Asensio claim
Marcos Asensio has entered the final year of his contract at Real Madrid, and is currently set to depart as a free agent next summer. The Spain international's progress in recent seasons has been derailed by injury setbacks, but the 26-year-old looks to be on course for a fresh start.
Newcastle were tentatively linked in the summer along with Liverpool, and Spanish outlet Fichajes claim the Magpies remain on the 'prowl' for the attacker. Alexander Isak arrived in the summer, but Eddie Howe is still said to be keen on futher bolstering his attacking options.

Asensio could yet opt to remain with the Champions League holders, despite reported interest from a host of clubs including the Magpies. RAC1 even claim the wide man has reached a 'pre-agreement' for a controversial switch to rivals Barcelona next summer.
Santos latest
Newcastle were linked with a speculative €35 million bid for Vasco da Gama's rising star Andrey Santos earlier this month. The teenager has so far netted six goals in 26 appearance during the Brazilian club's Serie B campaign.
However, Globo Esporte now claim talks over a transfer have gone 'cold', with Santos' club focused upon their promotion bid. Any further negotiations over a move are said to have been put on hold until the end of the Brazilian season in December, with the 18-year-old currently protected by a €50m release clause.
