Newcastle United transfer gossip: Mykhaylo Mudryk's Arsenal admission, Magpies 'renew' interest Ligue 1 striker

Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours for Wednesday, November 16.

Mykhaylo Mudryk

Mykhaylo Mudryk has revealed that he follows Arsenal 'closely' amid strong links with a potential move to the Gunners.

The Ukrainian international, who is valued at £50 million, has been monitored by a host of Premier League clubs, including Newcastle United.

Mudryk admitted in an interview with Ukrainian presenter Vlada Zinchenko (wife of Arsenal's Oleksandr Zinchenko) that he wants to leave Shakhtar in January, but insists that he needs to be guaranteed playing time.

When asked if he would be upset if he didn't get a move in January, Mudryk told Vlada Zinchenko's YouTube channel: "Yes".

He added: "It's a tough question and involves a lot of factors in my answer. I would first want to know from the head coach that even if I wasn’t a guaranteed starter, that I’d receive a chance.

“Essentially, I need to hear directly from the manager what he envisages my role to be in his side. The team’s style of play will play a role [in my decision]. It’s very important to me.

“From a purely theoretical/fantasy perspective, if there was the option of being a bench player for Real Madrid or a starter for Arsenal, I’d probably choose Arsenal.

"I follow Arsenal closely, they're a very dynamic side. One surprise for me was how many Arsenal fans followed me. No other club’s fans have interacted as much as them. They always tell me: come to us!"

Jonathan David

Newcastle will reportedly renew their interest in Lille forward Jonathan David when the transfer window reopens in January.

French publication Media Foot claim that Newcastle attempted to sign David in the summer and will return again to place a bid during the winter.

David has previously been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

The Canadian international will represent his nation at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. David scored 13 times as Lille clinched the Ligue 1 title in 2020-21, and scored a further 15 in 38 games last term.

He has continued his goal scoring form in the current Ligue 1 campaign - notching nine goals in 15 league appearances for Les Dogues.

Maximo Perrone

Newcastle are reportedly in talks to sign Velez Sarsfield midfielder Maximo Perrone, according to Argentinian outlet Diario Popular.

Perrone has a contract at Velez until December 2023 with a release clause of €9 million. The report claims that Newcastle have already 'started negotiations' and are 'determined' to sign Perrone.

It adds that Newcastle are willing to pay the €14 million demanded by Velez. Perrone made his professional debut in March and has made 33 appearances during his maiden campaign in Argentina.

He has scored three times for Velez, including in the Copa Libertadores (South America's equivalent of the Champions League), as he helped his side reach the semi-finals.

The 19-year-old has seven caps for Argentina U16s and was presented with his U20s debut in a 2-2 draw against United States by Javier Mascherano in March.
