Toon in talks for Hudson-Odoi
Newcastle have opened talks over the possibility of signing Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Chelsea Social author Rob Pratley. Raheem Sterling’s arrival poses a threat to the 21-year-old’s future and a move away is logical.
Hudson-Odoi only started 11 Premier League games and suffered an Achilles injury at the back end of last season. Signing a winger is a priority for Toon chiefs as they look to bolster their attacking options.

On Twitter, Pratley - who has worked for the BBC - revealed interest from the Magpies is genuine. He wrote: “Newcastle have formally started talks with Chelsea over a potential signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi. The fee would be significant, and Chelsea are pondering over trying to include a buyback clause.”
Cornet to Forest unlikely
Newcastle appear to be the front runner in the race for Maxwel Cornet. ChronicleLive understands the Ivorian was offered to the Magpies earlier this month, with a £17million release clause active in his contract following relegation.
A host of top-flight clubs, including Nottingham Forest, are also linked with the versatile wideman. However, the Daily Mail report that the newly-promoted club are “struggling” to agree personal terms - paving the way for Newcastle to strike a deal.
Signing Cornet would make him the fifth former Burnley employee to join the club since the £300million Saudi-backed takeover.
‘Next Mane’ not a target
French outlet L’Equipe claims Newcastle are not targeting ‘the next’ Sadio Mane. Reports in January linked the Magpies with Marseille forward Bamba Dieng.
Like Mane, the 22-year-old is Senegalese and should feature at the World Cup later this year. Dieng bagged seven goals in 25 Ligue 1 outings last season to attract Premier League interest.
However, L’Equipe now states Newcastle want to sign a player of higher calibre before the transfer window slams shut. Analytical site transfermarkt.com value the forward - who has two years left on his contract - at £9million.
