Newcastle United train with Burnley in Portugal

Newcastle United continued their pre-season schedule with a joint training session with Burnley. The Magpies trained at the Portuguese Football Federation’s ‘Cidade do Futebol’ complex near Lisbon on Saturday.

The two clubs split their squads to play in two concurrent 11 v 11 sessions. United played two evenly split line-ups against experienced and youthful Clarets sides respectively before switching opposition after 45 minutes.

The Magpies won in each of their respective halves with a brace from Joe Willock and further goals from Elliot Anderson and Miguel Almiron giving them a 4-1 half-time lead. Almiron scored his second against Burnley’s stronger line-up after the break, as Callum Wilson also got on the score sheet to round off a 2-1 second half score line.
