The Match of the Day 2 panel had nothing but praise for Newcastle United after the Magpies dismantled their closest top-four rivals at St James' Park. Tottenham were blown away by a whirlwind start on Sunday, conceding five times in 21 minutes before eventually falling to a 6-1 defeat.
Eddie Howe's side now have a six-point cushion after moving into third in the table, while also holding a game in hand on Tottenham. Former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas took presenting duties on Sunday night's show, and was joined in the studio by Jermaine Beckford and Troy Deeney.
Reflecting on the display from the Magpies, Deeney said: "It was a full team performance. Togetherness, drive, passion and quality would be the words I'd use for every single player. I thought all the way through, it epitomised the team that's together from top to bottom."

Jenas then reflected on Newcastle's attacking metrics from the contest, which showed several season's best stats such as total shots and big chances. The presenter said: "I don't remember seeing such a dominant performance between two teams that are going for something the same in terms of the top four.
"Shots, 25, that's the best they've performed all season. Shots inside the box, you can go through it, they were right at the top of their game today."
Beckford was given the dubious honour of dissecting Tottenham's display, which came on the back of conceding in stoppage time to lose at home to Bournemouth in their last outing. Jenas then insisted the final word of the segment should be reserved for Newcastle, joking he would get 'battered' on social media if he didn't give his former club 'some love'.
Deeney added: "The contrast between the two is one team and ownership has the full structure, they know what they're doing and what they're trying to achieve. One in Spurs which is struggling and is in a mess, and it is showing on the pitch."
