Newcastle United team news vs Rayo Vallecano as Trippier and Pope start

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe fielded a strong team against Rayo Vallecano for today's friendly at St James' Park.

The lunchtime clash saw Howe start with Nick Pope while his England colleague Kieran Trippier was also in the opening line-up. Skipper Jamaal Lascelles formed a partnership with Sven Botman while Matt Targett got a rare start.

Jonjo Shelvey, Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock made up the midfield. Allan Saint-Maximin and Jacob Murphy provided the width in attack with Chris Wood the central striker.
